Hellenic Hull Management (HMA) Limited was founded in 1994 to act as managers of the Hellenic Hull Mutual Association Plc., the first hull and machinery mutual association for Greek and Cypriot shipowners. Since July 2016, HMA has been the exclusive manager of American Hellenic Hull Insurance Company Limited, which is a joint venture between the American P&I Club and Hellenic Hull Management. American Hellenic Hull’s founders and managers established a leading global player in the international blue-water marine hull insurance market. The company is also notable as the first-ever Solvency II marine underwriter in Cyprus and the only marine underwriter in the wider region.  American Hellenic Hull covers hull and machinery and war risks for most classes of vessels. The company maintains offices both in Limassol, Cyprus and in Piraeus, Greece.

Since February 2022, American Hellenic Hull Insurance Company was renamed American Steamship Owners Marine Insurance Company (Europe), or American Club (Europe) for short.  The move reflects both the success of the fast-growing marine hull insurer and the American Club’s desire to further expand its footprint in the European market.

As American Club (Europe), American Hellenic Hull Insurance has now extended its activities into protection and indemnity insurance, while the company continues to operate globally for hull and machinery business using the American Hellenic Hull trade name. The company is managed by Hellenic Hull Management.

During its 27 years of operation Hellenic Hull Management has insured more than 12,500 vessels and more than 450 managing companies with a 99% renewal ratio.  The company’s record of zero bad debts illustrates the strength and reliability of its insured clients over many years. Meanwhile, the company’s underwriting expertise and discipline is evident in a historical loss ratio of 67%.

In cooperation with developers at Microsoft, Hellenic Hull Management has created its own unique marine insurance platform that is a significant aid in its mission to operate efficiently and provide speedy, enhanced service to its customers.
